Qu'Appelle House of Prayer

The dream for a House of Prayer, initiated by members of the Saskatchewan Oblates and others, began in 1993. The vision was to offer a place for silence, solitude and simplicity, which was first and foremost a way of life for a small community who in turn could offer hospitality to guests seeking the same. It offered the gift of presence and space, both sacred and safe to any and to all. In part, the concept for the Qu'Appelle House of Prayer came about to respond to people's needs and longings for solitude and prayer and was also inspired by other Houses of Prayer.

The Francisan Friars of St. Michael's Retreat together with the Anglican, Evangelical Lutheran & Roman Catholic Communities operate the Retreat Centre through an Interchurch Board. This partnership is a first in ecumenical retreat ministry.
St. Peter's Abbey

St. Peter's Abbey in Muenster, Saskatchewan, Canada is home to 20 Benedictine monks. This includes 13 priests, and 6 brothers, and one novice. We do not at present have a monk in simple vows--a junior. The abbot of St. Peter's is Peter Novecosky. We follow the monastic rule of St. Benedict. He wrote a rule for Christian life known for its balance and moderation; this life provides a balance between prayer, work and study.
St. Peter's Guest House has 35 rooms for single and double occupancy. There is also an open area dormitory which can accomodate 100 people. Advance bookings should be made with the guestmaster. We invite people to come and spend time in our guesthouse to be renewed spiritually and physically. We have a beautiful setting on the Canadian prairies and lots of quiet spaces and quiet time. Guests are invited to join the monks in our daily prayer. Guests come for a day or for several days.
