Retreat centres offer tranquility and privacy, and an opportunity for spiritual renewal. Many retreat centres also offer spiritual direction. The list below includes most of the retreat centres in the four western Canadian provinces. Not all of these centres are church-sponsored, or Christian. Contact them for further information about their programmes and facilities.

  Calling Lakes Centre is a fully accredited educational centre of The United Church of Canada which nurtures growth in individuals, congregations and communities through programs, retreats and hospitality. As an Affirming Ministry within the United Church of Canada, we are welcoming and inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Located on the north shore of Echo Lake in the beautiful Qu'Appelle Valley, our Centre provides a peaceful yet accessible "getaway" for retreats, workshops, and conferences.   The FCJ Christian Life Centre is a corporate ministry of the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus. Welcome to the FCJ Christian Life Centre, a retreat and conference centre where thousands of people have experienced the hospitality and warmth of the FCJ staff and Sisters.   Marywood is a spiritual growth centre, specializing in retreats, spiritual direction and spirituality programs. We are sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nelson and staffed by the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame. Open year round, we welcome and encourage ecumenical outreach.
• Mount St. Francis Retreat

  Mount St. Francis Retreat, located on the outskirts of Cochrane overlooking the Big Hill Creek Valley, is a Christian retreat centre. For those wishing time apart in intimacy with God, the Mount offers moments of silence within the hustle and bustle of modern life. Situated on almost 500 acres, the retreat centre provides occasion for retreatants to enjoy the beauty of the foothills, with a view overlooking the Rocky Mountains. Pathways and the Stations of the Cross allow opportunities for reflection and celebration of God’s handiwork.

  Providence Renewal Centre offers a wide variety of programs and retreats for men, women, couples, mothers-daughters, people in 12-step programs. Silent retreats, weekend and day retreats offered.  Conference, meeting and retreat space available to church groups and organizations.
• Qu'Appelle House of Prayer

  The dream for a House of Prayer, initiated by members of the Saskatchewan Oblates and others, began in 1993. The vision was to offer a place for silence, solitude and simplicity, which was first and foremost a way of life for a small community who in turn could offer hospitality to guests seeking the same. It offered the gift of presence and space, both sacred and safe to any and to all. In part, the concept for the Qu'Appelle House of Prayer came about to respond to people's needs and longings for solitude and prayer and was also inspired by other Houses of Prayer.

• St. Benedict's Retreat & Conference Centre

  St. Ben's offers city convenience in a rural setting along the Red River. St. Benedict's Monastery and Centre is located on 72 acres of wooded grounds. There are bicycle and walking paths and acres of land to roam. We are pleased to offer a space where you can find rest and renewal.

• St. Michael's Retreat

  The Francisan Friars of St. Michael's Retreat together with the Anglican, Evangelical Lutheran & Roman Catholic Communities operate the Retreat Centre through an Interchurch Board. This partnership is a first in ecumenical retreat ministry.
• St. Peter's Abbey

  St. Peter's Abbey in Muenster, Saskatchewan, Canada is home to 20 Benedictine monks. This includes 13 priests, and 6 brothers, and one novice. We do not at present have a monk in simple vows--a junior. The abbot of St. Peter's is Peter Novecosky. We follow the monastic rule of St. Benedict. He wrote a rule for Christian life known for its balance and moderation; this life provides a balance between prayer, work and study.
  St. Peter's Guest House has 35 rooms for single and double occupancy. There is also an open area dormitory which can accomodate 100 people. Advance bookings should be made with the guestmaster. We invite people to come and spend time in our guesthouse to be renewed spiritually and physically. We have a beautiful setting on the Canadian prairies and lots of quiet spaces and quiet time. Guests are invited to join the monks in our daily prayer. Guests come for a day or for several days.

Star of the North strives to be "a place apart" where people can come to be refreshed, gain a fresh perspective on things and rediscover the sacred dimension of life. "The Star" is an ecumenical, non-profit centre sponsored by OMI Lacombe Canada.
