KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives
"KAIROS brings together 10 previously independent inter-church coalitions, whose concerns and work increasingly overlapped, given the realities of globalization. The new ecumenical organization provides continuity to the work of these coalitions and their more than 30-year history of highly respected research, policy development, advocacy and grassroots mobilization on a range of justice issues in Canada, Latin America, Asia and Africa. KAIROS will also continue to partner with local ecumenical social justice networks across the country and provide funding to help build the capacities of partner organizations in the Global South. The name KAIROS, which refers to moment of transformation through faith, is an appropriate name in this context of continuity and change." [from the website]

KAIROS brings together the work of ten former inter-church coalitions. Their long experience of ecumenical cooperation provides a rich resource for those working for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation.

Churches Seeking Reconciliation and Peace
The Decade to Overcome Violence: Churches Seeking Reconciliation and Peace (DOV) is an initiative of the World Council of Churches that calls churches, ecumenical organizations, and all people of goodwill: To work together for peace, justice, and reconciliation at all levels – local, regional, and global; To embrace creative approaches to peace building which are consonant with the spirit of the gospel; To interact and collaborate with local communities, secular movements, and people of other living faiths towards cultivating a culture of peace; To walk with people who are systematically oppressed by violence, and to act in solidarity with all struggling for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation; To repent together for our complicity in violence, and to engage in theological reflection to overcome the spirit, logic, and practice of violence.

Les Églises en quête de réconciliation et de paix
La Décennie « vaincre la violence » : les Eglises en quête de réconciliation et de paix est une initiative du Conseil oecuménique des Églises (COE) qui appelle les Églises, les organisations oecuméniques et toutes les personnes de bonne volonté: à oeuvrer ensemble pour la paix, la justice et la réconciliation à tous les niveaux - local, régional et mondial; à aborder l'édification de la paix d'une manière novatrice et conforme à l'esprit de l'Évangile; à échanger et à coopérer avec les communautés locales, les mouvements laïques et les fidèles d'autres religions en vue d'établir une culture de la paix; à donner les moyens d'agir à ceux qui sont constamment victimes de la violence et à se solidariser avec tous ceux qui oeuvrent pour la justice, la paix et la sauvegarde de la création; à se repentir ensemble de leur complicité dans la violence et à s'engager dans une réflexion théologique sur les manières de dépasser l'esprit, la logique et la pratique de la violence.

The Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance (EAA) is a new and broadly ecumenical network for international cooperation in advocacy on HIV/AIDS and global trade. More than 85 churches and church-related organizations have joined the Alliance by committing themselves to "speak out with one voice against injustice, to confront structures of power, practices and attitudes which deprive human beings of dignity and to offer alternative visions based on the Gospel". This commitment to joint action brings with it enormous strength and responsibility.  
Un nouvel intrument oecuménique a été créé en décembre 2000 et s'est engagé à travailler sur les questions difficiles du commerce mondial et du VIH/Sida. Pour chaque question, la nouvelle Alliance Oecuménique "Agir ensemble" a développé une approche éducative et une stratégie appropriée pour promouvoir le changement. Un nombre croissant d'églises ont rejoint l'Alliance en s'engageant à parler d'une seule voix contre l'injustice, pour confronter les structures de pouvoir, les pratiques et les attitudes qui privent les êtres humains de dignité et pour offrir des visions alternatives basées sur l'Evangile.
