The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism has been attempting to develop a network of local congregational representatives. Sometimes called "parish ecumenical representatives," we use the term "parish ecumenical contacts" or PEC to describe these people. We provide support for our PEC's in their ecumenical mission through workshops, a resource library, and other information and training. Normally these people are known to their pastor and congregation, and many serve as members of parish / congregational councils, vestries or sessions.
A PEC is responsible to their congregation according to the polity of their own church. We encourage people to work within their church's polity. Most PEC's are asked by their churches to lead congregational studies, to coordinate ecumenical contact with neighbouring churches, and to develop a comprehensive knowledge of the church traditions found in their community.
There are a number of possible areas where PEC's could assist the Ecumenical Centre directly. These are listed in the Programme Participation section of the form. If you have further questions about these, please contact the Centre.
The majority of our PEC network is in Saskatchewan, but we are prepared to provide some support to local ecumenists world-wide as resources permit. If you would like to join this network, please indicate below. You should also contact your pastor and church council to determine your role within your congregation.
There are two sections to the attached form. Please complete both sections. If you do not complete the contact information section, the PCE will be unable to contact you, or process the information from the programme participation section.
