The following instructions can be used to connect your ecumenism.net or oecumenisme.ca
email accounts to your Netscape Messenger. You will require a login ID and password that
are not specified in these instructions. Contact the for these details.
The outgoing mail servers are not specified. Outgoing mail service is provided by your
local dial-up service provider.

1. a) Open Netscape
b) select the Edit menu
c) select Preferences.

2. a) Click on the + symbol by the area labeled Mail & Newsgroups.
b) Then click on Identity.
|

3. With the Identity area open, please carefully enter the following
information.
a) Your name: Full Name
b) Email Address: username@oecumenisme.ca as provided to you by the webmaster.
Remember the username for step #5 c.

4. a) Click on the Mail Server area. It should be empty on a newly installed Netscape
Communicator.
b) Click on the Add button.

5. Enter the following information:
a) Server Name: mail.oecumenisme.ca or mail.ecumenism.net
b) Server Type: POP3 Server
c) User Name: Use the username
assigned to you by the webeditor. The username is your email address with the @ exchanged
for #.
e.g. username#oecumenisme.ca
Click OK.

6. Place the following settings in the
Outgoing Mail Server area.
a) Outgoing mail: Check with your local
ISP for your Outgoing (SMTP) server. This is the SMTP server on your dial-up or
high speed connection. It should be in the format smtp.ispdomain.com or pop.ispdomain.com.
b) Outgoing mail user name: <username>.
This is the username for your ISP (dial-up service). It is not the same as the username in
step #5. CCE staff: please check with Ann Herbert.
Click OK.

7. To access your email, please go to the Communicator menu, and select Messenger.
The first time you access your email you will be asked for your password. Use the password assigned to you by the webeditor. If you wish to
change it, please email .
